The only plan I had today was to meet my brother for brunch since he had to come to town to drop a friend at the airport. And, turns out he is dieting again, so what do you think we talked about. ;->
Yes, and a great time was had by both.
I had really wanted to drive to the beach before it got cool, and especially like being in a tourist venue on Labor day evening (all the tourists have just gone home and all the townsfolk are sooo relaxed and happy). So, at 11:00 AM today I decided just to go. No friends could go with, so - I went. =)
2 hours driving, 4 hours there, 2 hours back. Well worth it. WHAT a joy the ocean is! And, it wanted to play! LOL
The surf was pretty good so I let it try to push me down or turn me around while I of course tried to remain standing and/or sitting strong. I will admit it won sometimes, but I usually did. =) And, sometimes it splashed me! LOL
It was a beautiful day here and I enjoyed it very much. Food wise, was okay but not letter perfect.
The good thing was, I didn’t go crazy or *totally* off. (There was this Krispy Kreme bakery, see, the one with the light that comes on? I didn’t stop going OR coming. Pin a star on me!)
Breakfast was great, 1/2 grapefruit, 2 eggs, 1 slice sprouted bread and some nuts (I forget what kind).
Lunch was late, 6 hours. The Flat Belly Diet rule is no more than 4 hours between meals. Wendy’s Chicken Caesar salad with mandarin oranges, which I put on top. 1 package Italian vinegarette and 2 tbsp. sunflower seeds, which I brought with me, my MUFA. I haven’t looked up the nutrition info yet but I bet it added up to a good meal, just late. And late is serious.
No snack
and dinner was after 9PM, another 6 hours later. I was ravished and inhaled my food. I resisted all the good-looking sandwiches and settled for a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The Bleu Cheese dressing and the bacon were definitely over the top, but the rest was on target, until….
I ordered sweet potato fries after I began eating. And I did dip some in the cinnamon-sugar-butter they serve with it.
I was happy with myself for eating salad for 2 meals when I really thought I wanted a sandwich. If I eat wheat I’ll set off 4 days of cravings for food of every kind, for 4-5 days. Not worth it.
Ultimately, I decided being fanatical on holidays was probably not a good idea and from this day on I hereby declare amnesty on food for all holidays. Overall, I didn’t do badly.
The willpower left me because I hadn’t been eating *on time.* (This ain’t my first rodeo.) If I had packed food before I left, I could have eaten on time and eaten what I needed, and also added in some eating out when and where wanted, without missing a beat. I would have had choices and wouldn’t have missed the 4-hour rule.
So, a learning experience, a very fun day, not a disaster food wise, but a lesson. Okay by me.
What did you do for Labor Day?
