Welcome to my World

Hello, my name is Kayla and I am 20 years old.  I am a full-time nursing student and just graduated as an LPN in May.  I passed my NCLEX-PN on June 13th and began working as an LPN at a local nursing home.  So far, I definitely don’t regret my career choice, as demanding as my job can be.  I enjoy the responsibility and being challenged everyday at work.

Sadly, summer is almost over and in two short weeks I will be heading back to nursing school to finish up my associates degree and finally be an RN (registered nurse)!  I’m really excited but at the same time I’m a little terrified too because I remember how demanding my first year of nursing school was.  I just pray that I get through this next year while maintaining my sanity.

At the beginning of the summer I began dieting (blah I hate the word!)  I started out at 150lbs and am proud to say that I have lost a total of 8lbs so far.  I really don’t have a concrete goal, I just want to look good and feel better about myself.  I’d like to get down to 130lbs (maybe less… we’ll see) and I’d like to wear anything less than a size 12!  I’ve never worn pants that were a single digit so a size 8 would be suffice.  Heck I’d even be happy with a 10!

I’ve been trying to eat healthier, because I definitely realize how bad my eating habits were before!  I still indulge myself occasionally, but I try not to over do it.  Exercising is hard for me because of my hectic schedule with work and school, but I do get in a lot of walking on the job.  I’ve been doing some Pilates and I’m getting ready to give the whole “dance your ass off” thing a try.  I’m just gonna play some really upbeat music and go nuts!  LOL!  Hopefully that will be something fun that I can stick with.

My husband, AJ is very support of my efforts to lose weight.  He tells me that I am beautiful and that he is proud of me, so that helps keep my motivation up.  We’ve been married for a little over a year now, but we’ve been together for nearly three, so he knows me better than anyone!  The last time we went shopping he saw how depressed I was that I could barely squeeze into my old size and has supported me ever since.  Even when I fall off the wagon, gain my weight back and start all over again he is behind me every step of the way!  We’ve been through a lot together and will hang on to the end.  He is my rock and I’m thankful for him everyday.

Well anyway, I guess that’s about me in a nutshell.  Thank you for your interest in my life, even if you are just bored and browsing through blogs to pass the time!  To anyone who is struggling to lose weight, know that there are hundreds of thousands of people everyday in the same exact boat you are in.  Hang in there and keep your head high because WE WILL LOSE WEIGHT!!
