my moments of bliss

These are the moments where what I have accomplished really hit.  The things that will hopefully keep me going.  And, these are in no particular order.

Moment 1: April 2008: The wedding dress - Mom and I thought it would be fun for me to try on my wedding dress.  I wore it 10 years ago and was two pounds heavier at the time than I was in this photo, but I am ten years older so I wasn’t sure if the body was the same size…  Yeah it was loose. :)

Moment 2: July 2009: running into my former boss. I went out to sushi with some good friends and the boy.  One of those friends, a former co-worker, said that he thought our old boss was eating dinner next door.  Lo and behold, I finally had that moment.  That moment I had wanted since junior high.  The moment when you have lost a ton of weight and you literally leave someone slack-jawed.   Where they gush and say over and over again how amazing you look…  Yeah, it’s a good feeling.

Moment 3: April 2009: shopping in the “regular” store/section. I had 45 minutes to kill before getting a hair cut and the salon was next to an Old Navy.  Now, I know they carry larger sizes at Old Navy… well, at least I know that now.  I had always thought of it as a skinny store and that if I wanted their cute, cheap clothing, I’d have to go online and buy the plus sizes.  Let’s just say that thank GOD I only had 45 minutes to get my shopping groove on.  I left with two shopping bags full of normal size 14s and XLs.  Ah, bliss!  I will admit to trying to photograph myself in the dressing room mirror with the size tag showing.  Didn’t work.  I did save the tags, though.

Moment 4: July 2009: Shimmying into a size 14 Calvin Klein satin pencil dress. I was having such a major Biggest Looser moment.  I would have gladly slapped down $148 then and there for the dress had the sensible bargain hunter in me not remembered that I could probably find the same (or similar) dress on eBay for much cheaper (and I did - $35 new with tags no less).  Here are crappy iPhone pics of me in the Macy’s dressing room.  Trying to get the right angle while holding the phone yielded an interesting shot:
