Just another 3fatchicks.com weblog

OK, I haven’t had a chance to post for a couple of days.  Life gets in the way!  The “life change” is going great.  I feel good, I hurt in all the right places, and I’m losing weight!  I’m down a total of 7 pounds since Jan. 2.  Just a couple of lifestyle changes, better diet and daily exercise, and things are happening.

I’ve tried to keep my calories at or under 1,500 per day.  I’m walking 1-1.5 miles 5-6 days per week.  The walking is getting me and our family dogs in shape!  I’ve been eating a FullBar before every lunch and dinner, and I am really feeling full!  The first week, I didn’t get that full feeling.  However, this week, I’m really starting to feel it.  Because the bars are ~150 cals each, I give up snacks for them.  We’ll see if they keep working.

Just a couple more weeks and all this good eating and exercise might become a habit!  More later…

Well tomorrow was not such a great day.  I didn’t take my daily walk and I blew my diet!  However, I up and ready to go today!  Now, if I could just get my husband off the couch and we’ll get going on the walk!  I am not going to let this break my resolve to loose the weight!  Before I would just give up believing that I didn’t have the willpower to stick to a diet.  Now I know it is not willpower, but resolve, and I have the resolve!

OK, so I didn’t get the gastric bypass or lapband (my insurance company says I’m not fat enough).  But, I did meet a great doctor.  So, as you know in my first post, I saw him on tv advertising his new product, FullBar, and was intrigued, mostly because I found the doctor to be very inspiring and personable.  I have been using the FullBar for about a week now and I think it’s working.  Remember, the FullBar is for appetite suppression prior to your meals.  Anyway, I’ve been eating one before lunch and one before dinner. (Directions say eat one bar plus a full glass of water and wait 30 minutes before eating.)  They are keeping me to my diet but, more importantly, they are keeping me from being hungry between meals, which was usually the time I’d do my overeating.  They are somewhat tasty (solves my craving for sweets and carbs) so they are easy to down.

I’m 4 days in, eating right, and exercising daily.  Hopefully I can keep this up.

OK, so I’m back at work (teach) and I have really stuck to the diet!  I know it’s only 3 days in, but I’m doing it.  At each diet attempt before, I usually gave up quickly.  I HAVE to do this, first for myself and secondly, for my daughter.  She’s starting down the same path I have gone, way too quickly.  She’s a very athletic and active kid, but everything sticks to her.  I don’t want my legacy to her to be one of weight battles and complete lack of fitness.  I hope to give her a role model so that she can ake the right choices in her life.

I’m really lucky in that I have a tremendous support system.  My husband and daughters are awesome and encouraging.

OK.  Good Day.  Followed diet religiously.  Walked, vigorously.  Planned tomorrow’s eats.  Two days down, many, many, many more to achieve.

Sorry for the short post.  More later ;)

Well, here I go, again.  I have blossomed to 200+ pounds and I am ready to leave this roller coaster ride.  As one of the many people who are overweight, I have hoped for years for a “miracle pill” or cure or something that doesn’t take time and effort.  Of course, that just doesn’t exist.  I jumped on the scale this morning and was disappointed, again.  However, as a new era of Hope begins, I too am going to take my life back and its course will now be set by me!

I have purchased one box of Full Bars, a product created by the same bariatric surgeon I went to for the surgery.  [However, the insurance company nixed that idea ( I wasn't fat enough) ]  I found Dr. Snyder to be both engaging and motivational.  After seeing the ad for Full Bar on tv, and knowing what I know of Dr. Snyder, I purchased a box.  They are rather expensive, but less expensive to self-paid bariatric surgery.

I ate my first Full Bar last night, drank a full 8 oz of water, and waited 30 minutes before eating dinner.  Since our daughter was out with a friend last night, dinner was “on your own.”  I grabbed a can of soup and heated it up.  I was pleasantly surprised, I could only eat about 5 spoonfuls of soup before feeling really full.  Again this morning, I did the same Full Bar routine and was able to each 1 slice of toast with 1 tsp butter and 1 tsp grape jelly.  I feel completely full.  Hopefully this will keep me feeling full all day until dinnertime.  We’ll see…

I intend to post daily, hoping that this will keep me motivated. I’d love to hear from anyone who has struggled with their weight.
