Strong is the New Skinny!

I was reading oxygen magazine this week.  It was about the world champion woman’s cross fit winner.  She was an amazing young woman but one thing stuck in my head.  She talked about how today’s woman are geared toward being skinny when we should be aiming for being strong.  I recently started weight lifting when I restarted back.  I am amazed by how much I am loving it!!  Don’t get me wrong Cardio is important too and I have been doing the elliptical at least 4 days a week and power walking almost everyday but Weight Training is Awesome!  No I am not ready to lift 300 pounds and start cross fit.  Maybe some day but I am lifting a routine using between 30-60 pound weights in various arm, leg and abdomen exercises.  The results are incredible.  Weight lifting can burn calories for over 24 hours where cardio burns while you are doing it.  Weight lifting also puts your metabolism into an accelerated mode almost like a gun going off at the start of the race.  I just want some definition toning and strength.  Yes Strong is going to be my new skinny!!

30 days clean eating

I am feeling so motivated!  I have been on clean eating actually for over 30 days and working out at planet fitness 3-4 times a week which includes the elliptical and interval weight training and I am down almost 17 pounds!!!  This is truly working.  I have also lost over 8 inches in the process on bust/waist/thighs/hips/arms!!  I am loving the way weight lifting is starting to transform me.  No I still look fat but… the inches are coming off.  This is a life changing plan.
