Chelonia mydas is the Latin name for the Green Sea Turtle. I love turtles, and slow and steady is what works best with fitness and weight loss, so here we are!
I’m in my mid-40s, have aggressively treated thyroid disease, and had a surgical menopause in my early 40s because of endometriosis. Slowly, over the course of the last six years, I gained close to 30 pounds. As my family history has all kinds of nasty things in it, like high blood pressure and heart disease, that kind of weight gain just won’t do. Nope, nope, nope! Time to get down to business!
Also, I don’t eat meat. Technically, I’m a conscientious lacto-ovo pescetarian, which basically means I’m a vegetarian who eats dairy, but organic and certified humane wherever and whenever possible, and sometimes I get fish or shellfish when I go out to dinner with my man. I haven’t eaten poultry since 2005, and I haven’t eaten beef, pork, or other animals since 2009.
