It’s been awhile since I’ve been here but that is okay.  I’ve been keeping a hand written journal which seems to fit my phase right now. I’ve been exercising  and eating the best I can.  I’ m not sure how many calories per day I’m consuming. My goal is to exercise for 150 minutes each week.  I’m also wearing a pedometer. I’d like to hit the 10,000 steps per day but if I get 5,000  I’ll be happy.  I’m not sure if I have the stride set correctly. 

I made a trip to the doctor Friday.  My hip was beginning to bother me again.  He gave me an injection of cortisone which made me hyper for a couple of days.   My hip is still a little sore.  He told me their was imflamation but didn’t tell me if it was bursitis or arthritis.  No way of knowing with out an xray but with me having osteoporsis it could have been either one but it was extremely sore when he examined it.

My waist line started out last week at 44 inches.  Today’s measurement reveals  43 inches–doing a happy dance.

Went back to the gym this morning and they are doing renovations.  Hopefully they will be through with the new tile floor to the weight room by in the morning.  Did most of the weight machines and some upper body work.  The 36 pounds on the bench press was a little easier today.  I made it without grunting but only did 10 reps.  Then I lowered it to  8 pound dumb bells and did 20 more reps. I did ride the bike max for 10 minutes for some cardio but will ride my bike after dinner.  I get better results if I do this.

Work this week has been good.  The boss has been rearranging etc.  He hated the bulky monitor that we were using. He left and came back with a brand new 24 inch monitor.  He gave it to me. He moved my desk back to the control room, where I’ll be on camera again, ugh.   There will be some jealousy I’m sure.  Some times I wonder what’s going down when all this happens. 

My new bp meds are doing great. My blood pressure last night was 122/77 pulse 80. 

 

 

 

9/6/09 back to work

I enjoyed my four day week end even though I had to relent and put a do not disturb sign on the door.   Now for every one else to enjoy theirs. 

Made it to the gym yesterday for 30 minutes of aerobics and 30 minutes on the weight machines.  I have very poor upper body strength.  I tried my 36 pounds of bench pressing but it was HARD and only managed 10 reps at a time. I also managed to do 1/2 mile on the eliptical in 10 minutes. The rest of my cardio time was on the bike max.  My feet doesn’t like the treadmill.  I hate to hear men grunt but I was grunting to myself by the tenth rep of the bench press.  Friday  was cardio only so I rode my stamina bike at home for 30 minutes.  This is a very good piece of exercise equiment.  It reminds me of the eliptical except you get to sit down.  My feet are one of the reason’s I purchased it. 

Bedtime last night was at 9.00 p.m.  and up early before the alarm with off at 5.35 a.m.  I stopped at the grocercy store for breakfast of scrambled eggs, gravy and a piece of sausage. Lunch will be chicken strips that I cooked and froze a couple of weeks ago with a green salad  and tomato with poppy seed dressing.  The plan I’m using calls for a high energy protein drinks at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. I’m not sure what dinner will bring unless it’s a tuna sandwich.  I’ve eaten all my plums which are my favorite fruit, but I do have apple sauce cups and Jello. 

This morning is going by quickly.  I had to call out the stand by electric person for a partial power call.  He’s not called bac in so I’m not sure if he’s still working or just forgot to return the call. 

Getting a lot done today

I’m taking a break to catch up on some things on the computer. 

The spare bedroom is looking a lot better.  I’m about 3/4 done and then it’s the closet.  I did take pictures of the mess.  I don’t have a digital camera so a regualar camera will have to do.  My new cell phone is just that a cell phone.

I’ve found out something by going to the gym early in the day.  Exercise tires me out so I’ve decided to wait till almost bed time to exercise.  The gym closes tonight at 6 p.m.  I’ll be doing core exercise tonight but the rest of my body is going to rest except for cardio.  I’ve also noticed that the foot I’ve had surgery on goes numb more quickly when I use the treadmill.  The podiatrist cut a nerve in my foot on purpose so I wouldn’t have as much heel pain. The nerve was wrapped around a heel spur. The gym is closed for the holiday on Monday.  So I’ll start back on Tuesday night after work.   

Slept late this  morning.  I really needed too. I’m feeling more rested.  It was also raining.  Therefore, I didn’t eat breakfast until 9.00 a.m.  and that was a fiber one bar.  Lunch was a turkey and cheese sandwich with potato chips.  Yes I realize that’s not very healthy choices, but I’m focusing on routine and and fitness.Tonight will be veggies and protein.

It’s time to get back to cleaning.

 

 

 

 

I drowned my cell phone, ugh

I decided to do a couple of loads of clothes last night before bed.  I’d forgotten that my cell phone was in my pants pocket.  When I remembered it was toooooo late.  Now I have to go to my cell phone carrier and purchase a new one.  This is the only phone I have.

I also need to go pay my rent. 

Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs with 2 ounces of onion and 2 ounces of bell pepper and a plum. 

Instead of going by pounds as a weight loss guide I will be using my waist line measurement.  This morning when I measured it was 44 inches.  My goal will be 32 inches.  This is what Dr Oz has been teaching on Oprah.

My shoulders are a bit sore from yesterday’s work out at the gym.  I’m going back to the gym today. 

The new bp rx made me feel funny but come to find out it had made my pressure drop to low all at once.  I’ve been taking a half of one until this  got into my system.  This morning I took a whole one.  We’ll see if this makes a difference today.  This rx is keeping my bp in a more normal range.  

 

 

 

a good day

I woke up at my usual time around 5.30 a.m. but laid in bed till 7 a.m.   Decided that I’d ride the bike for 15 minutes, that was completed.  Fixed breakfast of oatmeal, 2 boilded eggs, and 8 oz of tomato juice.  The phone rang while I as cleaning up the kitchen. The dentist office called and told me they had a cancellation at 11 a.m. and wanted to know if I wanted to take it.  My teeth are a little sore but feel 100% clean.  I had no cavities.  Yipee.

I stopped by MCD for lunch and ordered only the new angus cheese burger. It’s huge.  I also stopped by the pharmacy to pick up the potassium that the doctor prescribed. The dosage is more than over the counter potassium.  I’m hoping that this will eliminate the need for the diuretic.   I had to wait a bit for that burger to digest.  Oh forgot the two fried apple pies!  I’ve been craving those.

I finally made it to the gym. I did  20 minutes on some lower body weight machines and 36 minutes cardio.    I had an excellent work out because there was no other person in there.  I may be sore in the morning.   I usually go gung ho and end up pulling a muscle by using to much weight. 

When I came back home I put a do not disturb sign on the door.  It’s been so peaceful. It will go back on the door tomorrow morning.  I’ll call my neighbor and tell her if she needs anything to call so I’ll know who is at the door. 

It’s September

This month I’m going to focus on routine and fitness. 

The doctor’s office called me today to let me know my lab results from last week.  My potassium is a little on the low side. She said my blood sugar was a little high and asked if I had fasted before the blood pull.  I told her no, I wasn’t expecting that.  She phoned in the rx for potassium.  I’ll pick this up tomorrow. 

My aunt called me tonight.  I think she was concerned about me from my unloading on them about work.  I’ve been under a lot of stress lately in more ways than one.  I told her wha I had found out about another co-worker and I thought that this was the cause of J’s, my boss, being on edge. 

My little sister called me alst night.  She was bubbling over with joy.  She’s going to be a grandmother.  This is something she’s been wanting for a long time.  Her oldest son in 29. He and his girlfriend are expecting.  She said they had planned it.  I noticed he was a little more than happy when he called to wish me a happy birthday on Saturday.  I should have guess it then.  I just knew she was going to tell me his brother and his wife were expecting baby but I have this gut feeling they will not be far behind.  I’m really excited for her.    

I have an extra day off this week end.  I have started my fall cleaning and would like to finish it. The coffee table  is to big for the way I have the living room arranged but I do not want to give it away.  I like to rearrange things more than alot.  I’m liking the living room more every day because I now have an entry way.  Now I need to rearrange the spare bedroom in order to accomodate this item. The room is rearranged in my head.  Tomorrow I will see the end result.
