Finally, some answers
The jerk buying our house won’t let us rent his apartment for another month so I’m moving on Thursday. It was a crazy last 24 hours but we finally have everything in place. My mom and dad are taking Kyle home w/them on Thursday after we move out the last of our things. My hubby, Justin and I are going to my MIL’s Thursday night. After school on Friday we’re going to my parents’ house for the weekend and starting Sunday night we’re going to the hotel for about a week. The mover came over tonight to see how much stuff we actually have and he said he should be able to move out our stuff this Thursday and store it until we move into our new house, which should be Halloween. This whole process is probably going to add an extra grand to the moving total but what can you do? It’s only money
My dilemma is living in chaos for the next 10 days or so. If any of you travel a lot for work have any suggestions for eating healthy while living in a hotel please let me know. There is a good sized dorm fridge and microwave in the hotel room so I’ll stock up on cheese sticks, yogurt, hb eggs, etc. I think every night for supper I’ll run to the grocery store (it’s a block away) and get something healthy so we don’t have to eat out every night. I know it’s possible, I just worry that I’m going to get overwhelmed and throw in the towel. It’s good, though, that we have our masquerade ball the night of the 30th b/c it will keep me from completely balooning up like a hippo. There is a fitness center in the hotel (aka treadmill and stationary bike) but it’s better than nothing. Justin thinks it’s so exciting to be living in a hotel, especially since there is a pool and hot tub. I just have to dig through our things to find bathing suits b/c I packed them awhile ago.
Today I got up early and worked out and food has been good. I’m vowing to workout every morning, even if it’s only for 20 minutes. While I’m punching and kicking I’m imagining the face of the guy who’s buying our house…definite therapy.
Minor drama today. Our builder emailed me b/c “someone” told him that I’m telling everyone all these bad things about him. If it was true what I said he should be upset but of course it’s not. We worked it out, and I’m glad that he brought it up instead of just being mad, but it’s not something I needed to deal with today. Plus, the guy who told him is a complete idiot, and the worst thing is he’s probably going to buy the lot 3 houses down from us and build so he’ll be in our lives for years to come. Oh yeah, he’s a teacher at my school, too, so I get to see him there. Egads.
Progress toward workout goal: 130/300
Wow, can’t believe the coworker who was spreading rumors about you… like you need the extra drama right now! For eating at the hotel, maybe try getting stuff from the store for salads (packaged lettuce) and sandwiches with lean meats and lots of veggies. They also have those frozen veggie packages that can be steamed in the microwave. Definitely check out the frozen meals section..sometimes you can find stuff that’s pretty healthy.
Thanks for the advice on CE! From what I have read it seems that I can sub the cardio days for my running program, like you suggested.
It will all work out just fine. You’ve gotta believe! I know always easier said than done…yada yada.
Food…look for the La Tortilla wraps, use lunch meat, cheese, lettuce, ranch(or something as a sauce…salsa) delicious and stuff lasts for a while in the fridge.
Cereal with milk. Yogurt you can add in cereals. Popcorn. Easy mac for Justin maybe for you. Not great but easy and not terrible per serving on calories. Can soups…Progresso has some good high fiber ones out now. Soup at hands they are about 70 cals per serv (some of them). Sandwiches. Bananas, apples. Ooohh girl you are gonna get healthy in that HOTEL!!!!
I’m glad we are getting back on track. Better grab hold and jump back on that wagon before we get road rash on our butts!!!
Glad to hear you’re finding solutions even though I know it’s not what you want to do. Think of it as a vacation of sorts. Just a couple of weeks.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the food. You’ll find plenty of stuff that will work. I’d be more concerned about eating because you have more free time than you’re used to. I know it sounds crazy with everything so chaotic but we travel a lot and it’s difficult when we check into a hotel in the evening. There’s just not that much to do. You can’t clean house or work on the usual things that keep you busy so you wind up watching TV and (if you’re like me) snacking.
Be sure to get some good books or plan some evening outings. Hang in there. A couple more weeks and it’ll be over with.
I really like granola, granola bars, fruit leather, and nuts when we’re staying at a hotel. Dry stuff that’s packed with calories. I also like a room that very far away from the vending machines
Good luck with your move!
Ok, hang in there these next 2 weeks.
There are LOTS of healthy things you can manage to eat in your hotel setup. Cereal is always a super easy one.
Mainly, I want you to relax and take care of yourself — a bubble bath, since it’s not you who has to clean the tub?
Moving is one of the most stressful things in life, and you already have a very stressful life. Do the best you can do with eating, then move in, then forgive yourself for any eating transgressions, and get back on track 2 days after you’re moved in.
