Bootcamp day 8

Current weight: ???

I don’t know if it’s good or bad that I generally can’t weigh myself on Mondays b/c I sleep in the guest room since I get up so early to workout. We have a nurse on Sunday nights and I don’t particularly want to stumble upstairs in shorts and a sports bra at 4 am. I have weighed myself on Mondays before so it’s not like that would keep me better on track on Sunday so for now I’ll stick w/this plan.

I slept horribly last night and I don’t know why but it wasn’t fun getting up this morning to workout. The good news is when you get up early it doesn’t do you any good to quit before you’re done b/c everyone is still asleep and there’s nothing to do. I’m a bit concerned b/c I tweaked my back while I was doing pushups w/my shins on the stability ball but hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow. I’m going to get up to workout regardless but if I have pain in my back I’ll do yoga instead. I’m not going to count that against my bootcamp/elliptical challenge b/c it’s due to an injury, not my choice. Isn’t it amazing how I can rationalize???

Progress toward workout goal: 120/300

Ahhh you are a MACHINE! 4 a.m.! Yeah I hear you on rationalizing… I’ve been tempted to do that oh so many times just in the first few days!

Keep up the good work… I’m trying to keep up with your mad workout program! You’re such an inspiration!

I thought 5 am was early! Ouch!! But I love my morning time, it’s the only time the house is quiet and no kids interrupting, constantly bothering me. It’s converted me into a morning person!

And you are doing so great on your boot camp! You’re inspiring me to do another one! Mmmm… maybe in a couple weeks! HA!

Please please be careful of your back. It’s not rationalization to take it easy after an injury, it’s called SELF PRESERVATION.

As someone who DIDN’T and learned the hard way (2 months immobile, drugs to get through my wedding, and surgery when i should have been on my honeymoon) I IMPLORE you to let the back HEAL before you push forward. You can put your 30 days on hold and pick up once you’re healed.

Back injuries are one of those things that once irritated can stay unhealed for a long time. And guess what heals? REST.

sucks, I know, but man you DO NOT want to aggravate a bad back and make it something worse.

I can’t make up my mind to have the scale upstairs or downstairs. It seems like whereever it is, is where I don’t need it. I want to weigh myself before I shower so that means going downstairs first, and usually having to get dressed, depending on who is here. And then of course getting undressed to weigh myself and then redressed to go back up stairs…Now I forget why it didn’t work when it was upstairs…

I hurt my back about 13 yrs ago on the job. I let a half paralyzed patient pull himself up on my arm. I didn’t notice anything until the next day. Even at that, it didn’t seem terrible, but then it got worse. They had to put me through physical therapy and when that was done, I was unable to do my job the way I could before. They cornered my into resigning from the job. It was a county job, I was pretty young and naive. I got nothing out of it, except knowing how to do some exercises when it hurts real bad, and a lifelong reoccurring back issue. Being fat and overweight now doesn’t help either.

If you’ve never had a back injury and aren’t sure what to make of this. You should probably be careful the next couple days and hopefully it’ll go away. You might also reconsider that particular exercise that caused it.

    Hope you heal quick!
