Yummy new snack
Current weight: 226.5 (-.5)
First of all, the hospital went very well. Of course they were an hour behind for our first appointment which only left 30 minutes until the next appointment so the cooler stayed in the van. But the 2nd appt. ended up running almost an hour late (somehow they didn’t know we were there) so we would have had time to get the food. But it was good news all around. Kyle is doing well, maybe a bit too skinny (could you imagine??) and I only ate the food we brought along. Felt kind of weird basically having a picnic in the parking garage of the hospital, but a girl’s got to eat, right??
So here’s my favorite new snack. It’s a protein bar called “Twisted”. It’s an “all natural energy bar w/protein”. Basically, it’s like a Take 5 candy bar but healthy. It has pretzels, caramel, peanuts, nougat and it’s covered in either chocolate, vanilla or peanut butter. Each bar has only 190 calories and 15 grams of protein which is what I have been needing to add. It is higher in carbs for those of you doing low-carb (20 carbs) and does have 6 grams of fat but most of that is from the nuts which is fairly healthy. It’s not something I’ll eat every day but I’ll probably add it on days that I lift for some extra protein.
Got up early and did CE and the 20 minute TJ. Hope to check in w/you all later.
Progress toward workout goal: 63/300
that protein bar sounds yummy!
Glad your son is doing well! :: claps ::
mmmm What brand is the protein bar? I eat them all the time, and that sounds YUM! I am always looking for one without hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup.
I am SO proud of you for taking your food and sticking to it. YAY!
Regarding cardio, based on page 144 and 126 (about recovery between workouts) I am thinking that whatever works would be ok as long as it does not put more wear and tear on your muscles. It says that the increased oxygen flow can be good for muscle recovery. So it seems like whatever fits your schedule would be fine as long as it is not high impact, causing more damage to the muscles that are trying to recover. I think I lean towards the conservative approach since the heavy lifting is still pretty new to me. I feel like growing muscle is a pretty big job for my body, therefore I am trying to make sure I don’t wear myself out and wear my body down without realizing it.
Glad to hear Kyle is doing well
Okay, so you’re starting the new weigthlifting rules when all your construction is done? Maybe I’ll start it at the same time…thinking late August or early September?
I THINK I’d like to try it, but then what if I get all the equipment I need & decide I hate it? Reading about your adventures in weightlifting land might keep me motivated.
I have a friend like the one you mention below…5 kids & she’s really struggling after the twins to get back into those size 2s…But she’s a wonderful person, so it’s hard to hate her for it.
Happy to hear your son’s appointments went well…& anyone who’s ever had hospital food would understand having a picnic in the garage rather than eating in the caff….:)
Um… I think I need to eat one of those protein bars NOW!
Where do you get them?
