Time flies

As glad as I am that we’re getting closer to spring I can’t believe how quickly January went by.  Hopefully the rest of winter goes as quickly and we’re warm, soon.  This weekend we had a taste of 40 degree weather and I want more!  Fortunately this weekend they’re predicting mid-40’s so hopefully the rest of our snow will melt.

I called the podiatrist today and can’t get in until March 9th!  What????  They said that they’d put  me on their cancellation list but I have to wait over a month to see a doctor for right now.  A month w/o my beloved treadclimber??  Oh well, what’s a girl to do?

So I hit the gym after school and lifted weights for my lower body.  After that I had planned to hop on a bike but they all were busy.  To make matters worse, there was a treadclimber that was open!  I thought I would try it at a slower pace w/my shoes tied very loosely and it turned out that my foot didn’t hurt too badly doing it that way.  And for some reason it was harder going slower and I only burned 80 fewer calories over the hour.  Not too shabby.

Right now I’m trying to decide if I’m sick.  My throat hurts and I have a cough plus I have the chills.  And while I realize that I probably am sick I guess what I meant was am I going to acknowledge that I’m sick. It’s not bad enough that I want to hide under the covers all day but enough that I just don’t feel good.  It’s not really convenient for me to stay home until Thursday or Friday of this week so I’ll try to hang on until then.

Hopefully I can carve out a bit of time tonight to check in on all of you.  With the Superbowl yesterday (yay Steelers) I was a bit busy getting ready for company.  I won’t even go into how bad my food choices were yesterday but the important thing is that they were choices.  I enjoyed every bite but now it’s time to get back on track.  My birthday is on Sunday and I would love to be below 235 as a gift to myself.

Days on plan this month:  0

Progress toward workout goal:  173/250

I’m playing catch up here. Sorry about your foot! I hope they can get you in sooner vs. later so you can find out exactly how much you should/shouldn’t be doing on it. Happy Birthday week : )

Hey at least your foot was good for one day of treadclimbing! :) Hopefully it will work itself out before March… sheesh!

And I have seen it… and I loved it! What a cute movie! I am all about watching every running movie ever invented. I am easily motivated.

    Yay Steelers!

Ouchy - you poor bundle of aches and sickness.

Maybe call a different pod. and tell them you broke your foot. Then they’ll fit you in! Act really stupid when it’s made obvious it’s not broken - they can’t possibly get mad, likely see worse every day.

Bouncy balls for labor, eh? That sounds like a good plan. Unfortunately, I live in one of the worst places in the US for medical malpractice lawsuits and they practically strap you to the bed. Sucked. I didn’t use an epidural or pain relief either.

Luckily, since the hubby got neutered I can just forget that awful pain and use my ball for a chair (and exercise sometimes too).

I can’t imagine you on a ball, ready to give birth. Did you do this at home? I’ve had an epidural for all 3 boys and as scary as it is to get it, I would not wanna go with it out.

I tried to do the treadclimber today, first thing. Two of the 4 machines were “Sorry we’re being maintenanced”. As the trainer was showing me how to set it up and use it, another woman came and got the last one. Then the thingys didn’t seem to be working right. The right leg was going up and down like it should but the left leg seemed to only go down and then back to starting position. She said try applying more weight on the left one when I step, so I tried and it still seemed like it wasn’t working right. I’m thinking I’m not doing it right. She’s saying she doesn’t think this machine is working right and now there’s a woman on the last one so I’m out of luck. Ok off to the ellpitcial until the woman leaves. I got busy with that and didn’t want to stop. I did 75 min on that one. Then the two treadclimbers were in use, including the one I was on and it seemed to work just fine… I think it’s me somehow. I’ll try again, though. I did notice in just those few moments that I was on it, it was using my muscles differently and I can see it was gonna be a workout. Which is good!

It’s a “blistering” 40 degrees there, is it? ;) Thanks for the lovely comments on my humble little blog, it made my day :) I’m still trying to read all of your entries, but the ones I’ve read so far sound great! I like your elimination of “try” and “hope” especially! And good for you for enjoying yourself during Superbowl Sunday, everyone deserves a nice nosh every now and again! And there I go, getting carried away with the exclamation points again.
Boy would I love to see a snapshot of all your students wearing “teacher was right” signs, LOL!

I am sorry that you hurt your foot. Man alive ONE MONTH??? That is a long time to wait for a injury. Yikes. On top of it all you are catching a cold. I really hope that you feel better soon! Is the vote today???
    Take care
    Feel better

I’m not surprised at the wait to see a doctor. Isn’t it ridiculous how long it takes to get an appointment? It’s crazy! A dermatologist is absolutely unreal these days.
