A little bit of everything
I’m home with a sick baby today so I have a bit more time to be on the computer. I have a few random thoughts/questions to share.
1. I called my FIL (see last post if you want to know more). I got their voicemail as I expected but at least I have gotten the ball rolling. We’ll see if they call back.
2. This week on The Biggest Loser, Alli said something about weight loss that really hit home with me. I don’t remember her exact quote but it was something like “Of course losing weight is hard, but it wouldn’t mean as much if it wasn’t.” This is going to become my mantra.
3. Has anyone tried that fat reducing drug that the FDA approved? I think it’s called Alli. I never considered it before because I was doing lo-carb (too much fat to deal with the side effects) but now that I have switched to the 3 Hour Diet I don’t eat a lot of fat at once so I think I could try it. From what I know you lose 50% more weight but I know the side effects can be pretty nasty. Just didn’t know if anyone had experience with it.
Baby is starting to fuss, got to go.
thanks for the comments; i agree. gonna think on it for a while…
have fun home with the baby today…

we watched the mist. eek!
I hope he feels better soon! I think it was a very mature decision to get the ball rolling with your FIL. I hope it works out for you but if it doesn’t, you know that you at least made an attempt. I’ve heard from a few people who have used Alli. As far as I can gather from them, as long as you stay below the recommended fat grams for each meal, you don’t get the side effects. A couple said that they had a bit of a headache at the beginning but nothing a little tylenol or whatever wouldn’t cure and it was temporary anyway. I haven’t tried it myself but I may if I stall. If nothing else it will help keep me honest and aware of what I’m eating. Because really it’s stay within the fat gram range or don’t bother leaving the house!
I suppose it’s like a penalty if you can’t stay within the required fat content. I did find an article for you (that wasn’t associated with the manufacturer - since I think they’re biased).

It just seems a little too icky for me. I mean, my morning snack (not all mornings, but a fair number of them) is an ounce of almonds. That’s 14g of fat right there. And uncontrolled bowel movements wouldn’t work into my exercise plans.
I’d also question that 50% more weight loss. The pill claims to block 25% of the fat you ingest. They recommend you stay under 42 grams. Well, 10 grams of fat is 90 calories. That’s honestly not going to affect your weight loss in a big way. What they’re assuming is that people will eat less overall because they’re afraid of the side effects. If you keep your calories the same and simply cut your fat percentage I really don’t think you’re going to see a 50% improvement. But hey, I could be wrong.
