I’m doing alright. Getting my water, workouts, and weights. The three w’s! Nothing to report, and nothing much to say. Just wanted to check in!

Gym rats

So you know those people you see at the gym every single day without fail? And they stay there for hours on end? And their bodies are absolutely perfect? You could bounce a nickel off that ass. There’s this small clique I see there literally everyday and think to myself  “why the hell are they here so often, they are in great shape, they can forgo a few days here and there??” And then I realized. DUH! That’s why they look the way they do because they DON’T forgo a day here and there. They are totally committed to sculpting their bodies, and they won’t stay that way unless they work them as much as they do. I also think that part of it is a social thing- that’s what they do after work to let off steam and to socialize, as I get the impression that most of them are single. But it was a light bulb moment that seems so idiotic, yet I never really got it before. It’s a commitment, and a commitment doesn’t mean you take a day off just because you don’t feel like it. You don’t take a day off of your marriage every now and then- or do you? If you do, I want to know about that dirt. But seriously, I think sometimes I see this whole gym/healthy eating/weight loss thing as a “take it seriously, but if I need to skip here and there I will.” I think that’s my problem, it’s the wrong attitude. I need to commit to myself the way I commit to other people and things in my life. And it needs to be a true commitment, no sideways affairs to keep me from what I’m supposed to do.

Today

Today was a good day food wise. I went to a shower and stuck to SBD safe foods. Wanted cake SO badly but didn’t go there, and I am proud of myself for it. Lately I have had a lot of breakouts and acid reflux and I think it’s because I’ve been lax about keeping sugar completely out of my diet. I am battling with food and exercise, and still, almost here in April, still haven’t found a way to be as vigilant and on track during the school year as I am in the summer when I have time to focus on myself. My newest plan is to buy a lock and gym bag and to start bringing it to school, and go straight from there to the gym. I live but 30 seconds away from the gym, but I think once I come home and start unwinding, it’s hard to muster the motivation to go back out. Let’s see if this works.

Hanging on

Things are so busy lately! But, I’m hanging on. This week I’ve gone to the gym twice, with two weight bearing days and cardio too. It’s not as often as I’d like, but it’s not bad. I’m hoping to get Saturday is as well for at least three times this week.

I can’t seem to get to where I need to run a 5K. It just seems to elude me. I can get to two miles, but can’t seem to get beyond it. This has been a goal for a while, and I know it’s attainable, but yet its somehow still out of my reach. I just find it so hard to do it all while working. But, that’s not going to change so I need to find a way.

Food is good this week. Weekend is coming and has me nervous. I still haven’t found a way to avoid the weekend eating falloff. But, I’m working on it. As always, still a work in progress!

Just another reason to exercise

So yesterday was terrible for food, but today was better. I’ve been slacking on exercise though on account of being pretty tired. But, today I found out my aunt potentially has breast cancer, someone else we know died of Huntington’s disease, and a cousin has an ovarian cyst. Now I realize that most of these things aren’t prevented by diet and exercise, but it’s just another reason to not neglect your health. And so, that is my motivation for the rest of this week.

Back and on track

Well, I’ve been away for a while, just busy, but things as always seem to be back on track. Eating wasn’t great today, J. brought home Caramel DeLite girl scout cookies- eeek! But, will have better day tomorrow and go to the gym too. I’ve started lifting which is good for me- will boost my calorie burning. Hope everyone is well, will catch up on your blogs soon!
