What happened? I have been trying so hard- granted not working out- but been trying to stay on task. I mean yesterday for dinner I had two hot dogs with salad (less than 100 cal for the salad). For condiments I put on mustard and ketchup- but that had to be better than the mayo and cheese my husband spread on his!!! I guess it’s a lot of carbs or something. But during the day I was really good! Okay well wait- it was a bunch of people’s bday and I had a small TINY TINY piece of cake- damn cake- but it was screaming at me and I wanted some! Darnit- but lunch was a lean cuisine and an orange- and dinner was the hot dogs. I did have a skinny cow ice cream- but come on- those are only 50 calories!
*sigh* I think this weekend I will re-read my PCOS diet book and really start that 30 Day Shred (DS). My sister started it she said it’s awesome- so I’ll check it out tonight and I’m going to re-evaluate my fitness goals on spark people- sometimes I wonder if I’m eating too little (less than 1500 calories a day). Even by my old trainer’s standards I should be eating more like 1600 calories a day- and I know for a fact I’ve had days where I’m closer to 1200/1300. I never go over 1500- and that must be it. Well besides not exercising…
I went online and found this:
http://www.nowloss.com/how-to-lose-50-pounds-fast-in-5-months.htm
Crunched my numbers and put in my activity level as Couch potato (I do plan on working out) and got that I should eat more like 1400-1800 calories a day. SOOO gonna try eating 1800 calories a day and eating more of this from protein and vegetables- so we’ll see
GONNA DO IT GONNA DO IT! Now that we possibly know what hubby has- even though it’s MS- it’s okay, people can live with it, and I feel like a small weight has been lifted off of me and now I can re-concentrate on my life. Thanks for the support everyone!
UG I tried resetting my goals and sparkpeople erased all my weightloss stuff for this past month! OOPS! Oh well, I’m starting over anyways. Now I just have to figure out how to get MORE protein into my life. Apparently I am not eating enough :p
Oh and btw- my husband told one of his friends he probably has MS and his friend said “oh man that sucks” and Chad said “yeah but it’s okay, these things happen” and then his friend said “how long do you have left to live?” O.0 Chad was like “uh, I’m not going to die!” I’m sorry but I lost it laughing lol. :p
that shows you how uneducated some people are. I have a friend who has it, my neighbor has it. Another neighbor had it…although I don’t know where he disappeared to. I guess they moved. There’s research out there that seems to point to food allergens attacking the (nervous?) system and that causes MS. Alot of people try certains diets(foods) to improve or even beat the MS. I haven’t done a whole lot of research but the one neighbor next to me is extremely active. The firend is not and I feel that plays an important role. So once again we’re at diet and exercise as being important huh?
I lost my eye sight (years ago, temporarily) and went to 2-3 doctors. The last one finally said it could be an early symptom of MS and since I didn’t have insurance I should not seek it further because if it gets diagnosed, I wouldn’t be able to get insurance afterwards. The eyesight came back. It was only one eye. And I did not reveal that I was using drugs. I’m pretty sure it was related to the bad drugs we had that weekend. But that has always stuck in my mind. It’s possible I have it or could have it someday. It seems to be very common.
Awhile back, I did my calculations in several tools and found that with the amount of exercise I was doing I needed more calories. I did notice an improvement right away in my energy and endurance. It was nice to be able to eat and still lose weight, but it’s tricky. You have to be careful you don’t fill those extra calories with junk. My # was 2300. It got to be that was about the amount I was taking in. I didn’t plan, I just tracked it. Then I got tired of tracking it.
Thanks for the link, the page is quite interesting!
Thanks girl- lately I’ve been ignoring my body and health- I mean rightly and NOT rightly so- but now with some idea of what is going on- I definitely feel I haven’t been eating enough. But today so far I had two slices of toast with smart balance butter- a snack that I’ve planned is 1 oz of almonds- I avoided them before cuz of calories- but I got to fit in some good ones somewhere and I’ve looked around for better protein options- going to make grilled chicken tonight with asparagus for dinner
Just had some tuna and was thinking about you and protein… I can easily wipe out two cans of tuna. Some celery, onion, a little mayo (I use the regular full fat cuz otherwise I don’t enjoy it) I eat it right out of the bowl, no bread. Anyways, two cans of tuna is 4 servings (total calories is 200, and the total protein is 44) Hope this helps

OMG I would be VERY upset about that! Yikes!
It’s good that you and your husband both have a really great positive attitude about Hubby’s MS. I kinda felt sorry for his friend, LOL. Poor guy really meant it when he said “oh man that sucks!”
