My Weight Loss Roller Coaster
I guess I will start with a little history of my weight! I can remember always being the heaviest one, but I think I really started eating a lot when my parents got divorced. I was about 5 or 6 and Little Debbie was my best friend. I was teased a lot and never had many friends, but in 7-8th grade I saw a change in my self-esteem. I was friends with one of the most beautiful and popular girls in school. She was the coolest person I had ever met and wasn’t anything like the other pretty stuck-up girls I had encountered. I decided that if she wanted to be my friend I was actually worth something. So as I transitioned to high school, I began to starve myself eliminating lots of things out of my diet. If I ate one cookie, I would do crunches just as soon as it went down. I do believe that I was suffering from anorexia, but never talked to anyone about it. I went from a size 16 in the 6th grade to a size 4 in the 10th grade. I was very active in the high school band, color guard, and JROTC. I got more friends as the years went on and starting eating bad again. When I graduated I weighed about 150.
Went off to college all by myself, became lonely and started to eat again. So more weight gain. Then I befriended a co-worker and we worked out together. I also joined a sorority, performed in the theatre, and took some dance classes. I was then at at a size 10. During my last year of undergrad so many things happened, I lost a few loved ones, Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana, and my long distance relationship of 5 years was on the brinks. So, more weight gain to about 165. I got engaged to my long-time boyfriend then moved to Floria with him. It was tought and I gained more weight topping out at 172lbs there. We moved to Texas in 2006 and it has been a weight loss roller coaster here too. I did lose some weight in 2007 and 2008 doing spiritual fasts. I was at about 150 when I got married in August 2008, but when the honeymoon was over and we returned to living I looked up at the scale and saw that I had gained 30lbs in one year!!! In December 2009, I was in the 180’s. So now at 26, I am ready to get off the roller coaster and start living my best life!
