5th times a charm? Yeah it’s still Friday ….

In my small world, I’ve lost another bid and submitted another bid.  Low balled it this time on a house that quite honestly - I don’t really care for - looks solid (3 bedrooms 2 baths) in a decent neighborhood. Hardwood floors in the bedrooms but some yahoo tiled up the kitchen, small living room and hallway with this horrible giant white tiles so it looks like a bathroom.

WTF?

There’s no accounting for taste.

But I did offer 250,000 - price 233,000.  The agent and his wife said, ‘Well Annie, how much you wanna bet this is the one you’ll get?  It always happens that way.’

Well whatever, as long as it’s in good shape (inspection) - I’ll be in love with the bargain and redo the floors. At least it’s cheap and it’s mine.

Life is about compromise.

Yeah, keep your fantasies about fantastic school districts, stainless steel appliances and french doors leading out to that green expansive back yard with fruit trees but realize that the reality is that your first home won’t be your dream home.  At least you’ll be moving forward with your life to create your own family and after all - isn’t that a sweet reality?

Ok, gotta go step on the scale - deep breath in: 203.5

Where is that fanfare?

1 pound down.

At least it’s not 1 pound up right?

Yep, that’s right. Just look on the sunny side of the street.

Guess my natural ‘mood enhancer’ could be more mood enhancing.

bite sized chunks

So I’m having Shopaholic, G and Cats (a gay co-worker who owns 10 cats) over for dinner tonight.  I like to make myself crazy and clean this joint up in a huff, run around town breathless. Yep, that’s how I like to spend my Fridays.  Well, I have no intention of cooking.  I’m going to go out and buy something.  G doesn’t drive and has been suffering a nervous breakdown at work so I thought it might be nice to do something nice for her.  It sounds like she’ll be going out on a psych disability for a few weeks.  Poor thing is an absolute mess.  I made sure there was no room to invite her girlfriend - the 50’s style girl with the whacked out eating issues.  So I’m gonna go pick her up from downtown and bring her by as well as drop her off at home.  It should be fun - I’m just not motivated to clean up and honestly - it needs to be done PRONTO.

I’ve decided to get the food downtown (thai most likely), pick up my collection of Thermacare things from the pharmacy and pick up G from work.

Work has been - well let’s just say that the joint has inspired more than one person to have a nervous break down.  It was particularly brutal this week. I’ll spare the details.

But I will say this - because the Union voted down a proposal from the City - we were told in an emergency meeting on Wednesday that we would all be laid off (on paper) and hired back as part time workers with a 37.5 hour workweek (gone is the alternative work schedule of 4/10’s) to save the City some large amount of money.  People were coming unglued.  Oh yes, they said - there will also be more LAYOFFS.

Take that you fuckers!  Shit.

Ok, ‘Uncle’ dammit.

We’ll submit.  Just don’t strip us naked, take polaroids of us and have it on the front page of the NY Times.

Can we play nice?  Can we?   I mean double my caseload and make me do it in 37.5 hours a week.  Fuck, I’m already working nearly 12-14 hours per day as it is now trying to do the right thing and not shortchange anyone at the expense of my sanity.  I see some major problems with this…

That helmet headed (imagine a shit brown page boy bob with at least 2 cans of Aquanet) buffoon (our director) is really trying to make herself look good and move onto another higher paying job.  It’s quite tragic because she does this at the expense of the clients that we serve - not to mention the carnage on the workers.

All you could do is sit there and rub your sore ass afterwards.

Nope, they didn’t even bother with the lube.

So it’s either gonna go into effect 7/27/09 or we’ll let them take 6.75 (money I’m told) out of us and double our caseloads anyway.

Gavin is trying to get to Senate you know…

Oh well.

musings from the pedal pusher.

Woke up at 5:00am this morning.

Ok, you’re not cranky - this is good.

Feel like a bike ride?

Sure, let’s give it a go.

On my path, I discovered that NO traffic for at least 5 minutes was heavenly and the silence while riding in a smidge of darkness was delicious.

Now, for a moment I wondered if my eyes didn’t deceive me -

my LED light caught the eye of a giant disgruntled raccoon.  I apologized out loud for the intrusion and marveled at how well rounded he was - after all I’ve only seen the pancake version in passing in the middle of the road…. :(

Then the traffic began.  Now mind you - you’d have to pry that steering wheel from my dead cold hands despite my utter distaste for driving.  I hate bicyclists - they usually hog the road and you’re always in a hurry.  But man, when YOU are the one cycling - you hate motorists.

Well isn’t that the way of the world?

So I returned home and have gotten an extra early start to my day.

I’ve managed to ride the bike 3 times this week.  Feeling better about it each time - but still not feeling very confident.  I am particularly slightly annoyed by the old rider crotch thing despite the gel padding of the seat cover as well as the cheap gel bike shorts.

Oh well, some things I guess you’ll get used to…

tenacity

This weekend I had a stomach upset and I’ll tell you what -

I haven’t had such a thorough cleaning in years.

UGH!

So I did ride my bike this morning at 6am - moved all the goodwill stuff to the back seat of my car before I went to get my accupuncture at the workman’s comp clinic then it was off to work.

My back is still unhappy so I don’t know how well that went.

Oh well.

In the meantime, I’ve been trying to eat better so we’ll see how successful I am this week.

In the interim - I’ve gotten rejected for my bid last week.  So I bid for another house that I came upon this weekend and saw a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath condo this evening but it’s 16 stairs (8 then landing, then 8) so I don’t think Mom can make it.

Good Grief.

I’m exhausted and it’s only Monday.

Crud.
