wobbly bits

My brother calls me last night and tells me he’s weighing in at 310 pounds.  He sounded very depressed and said, ‘I gotta do something about this - I’m so ashamed I don’t even want to leave the house anymore.’

So I decided to do this thing with him.  After all, misery does adore company.

He called me very cheery this morning, ‘I’m out on my walk!  I’m gonna do this!  Ok, I’ll call you later. Make sure you stick to it.’

So far it’s 4:37pm and I’ve got 70 calories left.

Hmmmmm.

It’s gonna be a long night.

Death link to too much red meat

yeah yeah yeah.

It’s bad for you.

*rolling eyes and sighing*

We’ll avoid the topic of the Oakland policemen that were shot in the line of duty last week because honestly - I don’t want to go there.

We’ll also avoid the topic of my doctor for my workman’s comp injury being a total jerk to me at our last appointment because I wasn’t ‘getting better’.  Guess my body is to adhere to your tight schedule Dr. Chicklet?

We’ll also avoid the misery of work.

So you’ll NEVER guess what happened today.

No no, not THAT - I wish though….

*pulling head out of the gutter*

I got a card from my kids’ grandmother out in Alabama and so I open it and BEHOLD -

A 500.00 CHECK!

I had to double take.

Now after marveling at this beautiful specimen of a check that had MY name on it - I momentarily flashed on adding a few zeros and moving to the moon never to dabble in the sordid business of child welfare again, but then I regained my composure and read the card.

In a nutshell - Thanks!

So alas, after I show it to my boss tomorrow - I purchased a fitting Easter card in which to mail it back to her (certified of course).

But wow, that was pretty doggone awesome.

That’s like getting a kiss on the head from the universe.

Dear Universe,

Thanks for that gift.  I am grateful, but next time could you make it a tall dark drink of water with a heart of gold and an income to match?  and thrilled that you’ve noticed me.

*knocks her head against the wall*

Now you’ll have to excuse me - it’s been quite a day

I’ll have some

charred

carcass

and a

bit of grape

juice.

in the kitch’n

So today I woke up fairly early and dragged myself out of bed to hit the store for the ingredients for a cabbage turkey soup and some blueberry muffins (whole wheat).  I was determined to cook these things.

Well one outta two ain’t bad :)

I also happened on a Paula Deen show where she made oven baked ‘fried’ chicken so I looked up that recipe for next time and saved it to the computer.  It looked really good :)  I also looked up cauliflower mashed ‘potatoes’  - so that should make a pretty sweet meal ;)

Picked up fruit for next week as well.  I also found this great Barilla plus pasta with lots of fiber.  Had some of that with some of the turkey mixture today…

I also managed to help my ex out with lowering his phone bill by 45.00 and helping get a phone card to the Phillipines.  Hopefully this will work out for him….

I tried to order a new bluetooth since I lost the last one that worked like *&^% - but I don’t really get that whole paypal crap and couldn’t pay for it.  I wrote the company online to let them know the problem.  My father asked me about researching a dual watch winder - so I spent some time yesterday looking crap up and found the Optima Sparta is one of the best but yeah - it’s a *&^% load of money.

450.00

Ridiculous.

So I tried to order it for him and again - the paypal crap didn’t work out so I’m gonna call them tomorrow.  WT *&^%?

You either want my money or not.

Geez.

So I had a struggle with that expenditure believe it or not.  I thought I was done with major spending on others.

Guess not.

It’s your father…a gesture of good will doesn’t hurt while you are asking him to take your Mother to the doctor because somehow the meds the last quack prescribed gave her a bout of incontinence.

Well, no matter - he’s elderly and hasn’t asked me for anything….

Goodness.

In the meantime, I’m thinking about going back to counting calories.  It seems to have worked last time and while a definite pain in the *&^ - it’s better than where I’m at now.

So cooking for myself might help in this endeavor….

Everything is a challenge no?

;)
