Weekly weigh in, grr…

Ok. My weight went up again this past week to 159.0. I wish I could innocently say, “I don’t know what I’m doing wrong!” But, I can’t. I know exactly what I’m doing wrong. I am eating too much food. My food diary isn’t helping me to keep the amount of what I eat in check the way I thought it would. I’m contemplating rejoining Weight Watchers online for a month to see if that will get me back into eating reasonably again. But, I hate to pay money to the program when I know how it works. grrr…

I’ve taken a few breaths now and feel more calm.  

I recognize that while I’ve been dedicating myself to eating better foods and making better choices (this past week’s Mexican food, notwithstanding),  I haven’t been dedicating myself to really “watching” what I eat. This week, I’m making it my goal to be mindful of how much, not just what, I’m eating. What was it that Round said several posts back? Eating to satisfy is much different than eating what one desires. When something tastes really, really good, I desire more of it. But, to achieve my health goals, then I need eat only what will satisfy me.

    that line between satisfaction and desire is a tough one, that’s for SURE!

    YOu’re keeping a food diary are you also tracking either calories or points? How about adding one of those for 2 weeks before you decide to head back to WW?

    Another idea : what if for 2 weeks you post your food diary on here? There are lots of WW folks on the blogs to help work out points if you don’t know them, and everyone can give some input to where you can tweak your diet if it’s not working… This is my fallback idea for myself if I get frustrated w a plateau - to be accountable and transparent with my diet. Since my goals are very modest, so far I haven’t needed to do it — but I think it might be a good tool…

    I should’ve added earlier that I’ve not been counting calories or WW points in my food diary. Honestly, I just wanted to make it my goal to be able to look at and review what I’m eating.

    Oooh. Keeping my food diary online for all the world to see. Now that’s a scary thought. I’m a points counting queen, so I’m going to return to the old WW plan without actually joining the program. If I’m cheating too much this week, then I’ll post my food diary for all the 3fc’ers to encourage, mock, etc!

    As always, I think round’s suggestions are good.

    I am not doing much tracking what I eat too. :( I will work on it too.
