Two Things….

1.  yesterday my middle son, who lives on his own, said that he had noticed I had lost a little weight around my waist–wow.

2.  Last night was my ‘free night’.  I had some friends over from out of state, they brought a bottle of wine and I provided a small dessert.  When the night was done I had only one serving of dessert and one very small glass of wine.  And when they left, I threw the remaining one piece of dessert away (after offering it to my family, who declined it) and I dumped the remaining wine down the drain.

Now, #2 is a big thing for me because I hate wasting food.  BUT, better thrown away than on my waist line.  Hmmmm, maybe that’s been one of the things that got me at 253……..something to think about.

#1 feels good because I have always hated having a belly–big hips and thighs never really bothered me, I have the boobs to balance those out but a big belly, well there is just no balancing that out is there?

Wohooo!

taking care of myself

I got my first delivery from Bistro MD.  I asked my husband what he wanted for dinner, offering to make him a salad for any of the frozen foods or pre-pared foods we had in the house.  He chose to have some microwave mac n cheese.  It really hurt me that he wasn’t having any vegetables, not even the individual steamers I had picked up.  Then I had an epiphany:  eating is his choice and for far too long I have made his choices my choices.  Not that he is the bad guy and MADE me he what he does but I just started cooking for him over the years and left myself out of the equation.  Often it was just easier and often ‘junk food’ is just more fun and tasty.  He loves to eat out and so do I.  I’m really glad he is on board with me eating healthier and so supportive and I wonder if he read this what he would think. I suspect he would think it strange that I changed my eating habits to follow his.  I think sometimes women do this or maybe I’m the only one out there.  Anyway, time to make me a priority and do what is good for me.  If he is okay with a frozen pizza every night then I just need to let it go. I have to choose better, my health is at stake.
