Yep, so I’m not working on Capstone, but what I have done is looked at my student loan information to get the exact amount owed ($55,000) and filed my taxes ($800 expected back, I reckon it should go directly to my loans). So I owe $30,000 for my undergrad loans and consolidated that when I finished. Then its $24,000 for my grad school loans, I’m not sure if I should consolidate them or not. Also I have an educational award of $5000 that can go toward either, I’m thinking I’m going to try to pay off the grad school loans more quickly because they have a 6.8 interest rate versus 4.75. Hmmm, I guess I could save $19,000 in Korea after a couple of years to pay it off. Then I would just have the $30,000 one to worry about. I don’t need to start making payments on either until 2010, but soonest paid, soonest I can put my money into other places.
So anyway, yes I’ve been needing to worry about my finances and take a road trip and sort through my clothes and go out to see people and have done all these things in the past week. On the down side, I really should be writing Capstone, not a blog entry and all these things should have taken a back burner to being able to GRADUATE. Hmm. Yeah, also trying to diet while preparing to leave your home country for one without some of your favorite foods is not the best idea. I’ve been trying to eat as much texmex as possible before I got to Korea and that seems to be working out good for the tastebuds, not so much for the waistline. That gets me thinking, why am I trying to eat texmex so much? I mean, I’ll still miss it so why gorge on it now?
