I’ve Always Thought I Loved Food…

…but now I wonder.  I mean, I say I’ve gained weight because I love food more that it loved me, but when on this diet this past week, I got really tired of eating, like seriously to the point where I was hungry, but didn’t want to eat and this forced me to reevaluate my diet.  So I last 3 days on my diet. lol Yeah, I’m just that good.  A’back to Atkins I will go, singing all the way. Hmm, maybe not singing, I would hate to inflict that on other outside of random karaoke situations.  I do love Atkins, I know it works for me. My problem is that I tend to gradually fall away in little ways. For example, having a few of those free chips and salsa at a restaurent, or just a bite or 2 of cake and pretty soon, I’m eating multiple slices of cake and hole baskets of chips with salsa. Very tasty, but horrid for me figure.  Anyway, since I hated the thought of eating on the other diet (this never happened to me on Atkins) and I know Atkins works for me, I’m baaack. I tried to start Atkins last May and was pretty successful. I dropped about 15 pounds in 3 months and didn’t notice anything, but that my clothes were a little looser and my measurements were smaller. Seriously, I almost forgot I was doing low carb, I just didn’t think of eating the really bad stuff. Of course, I only lost 15 pounds and that was because I wasn’t paying too much attention really.

So, I restarted Atkins on my day off, Friday, and it was nice. I didn’t eat anything for breakfast because I sort of ate several really awesome slices of pizza the night before. What can I say? I can home to 4 boxes of pizza with garlic sauce on the coffee table.  My sisters ordered some and my parents had the same thought and came home with some. :shrugs: I couldn’t resist the smell of all that garlicky goodness. Mmmm, garlic.  Anyway, so I had something like 4 slices and was stil full Friday morning and then went and picked up a sister from work at noon and we ran a couple of errands to Target and Petco. Then we went to Grandma’s house and spent an hour or so visiting. By this time it was 2 and I was seriously starting to get hungry (not the best way to start a diet, eh?) so my sister and I drove over to Bennigens because they don’t have any free appetisers for me to practice resisting and because I like their burgers and they substitute fries for broccoli for free.

So at Bennigens, I had a Big Irish burger and broccoli and barely finished half of it and took the rest home, feeling very full.  I actually spent the rest of the day feeling satiated and so didn’t have dinner, just a cup of green tea (decaf) with some sweet n’ low.  I wasn’t ravenous this mornign either, but knew I should eat something and ran out of time to make anything and had a few more bites of the burger and am still not hungry at all and I haven’t been eating all the time.  Awesome. :) Wish me luck on this current kick too.

  1. You should be proud of yourself for losing those 15 pounds. It may not have been as much as you would have liked, but you lost those 15 pounds! Maybe Atkins is a good diet for you; I hope you do well!

Bennigans?! When I lived in Massachusetts I use to love that place. Whereabouts do you live that you live nearby one? I love their chicken salad….YUM! :)

    Good luck!

  2. Thanks for the congrats. I guess I only gained back about 10 of the 15 pounds, but I need to get rid of still more. Hmm, slow and steady wins the race, huh. You know its weirds, Atkins orks for me, my grandma, my aunt, my Dad, but never worked for my Mom or 2 of my sisters. It justs goes to show that no one diet is good for everyone. :) There’s actually 2 Bennigans within 30 minutes. I live in Texas and I guess its pretty popular. They have great burgers and chicken dishes, but I tried a fried sandwich a few years ago and it was horrid, just a greasy nausea inducing mess. :shrugs: My cousin used to work at one and was married to a manager for one for about 5 years, but they didn’t work out and he now manages a Bennigans in North Dallas, so there’s no more special treatment :( lol.
