I could’ve done worse, but I could’ve done better too.

1 packet organic instant oatmeal
1/2 c OJ
2 c coffee

12 pm
tall nonfat no whip gingerbread latte

1 pm
raw veggies (carrots, cauliflower, brocolli, sugar snap peas — about 7 pieces)
4 chips + salsa

2:30 pm
turkey (~3 oz white meat, 1 oz dark)
1/2 c mashed potatoes
1/2 c stuffing
1/2 c green beans
2 TB homemade cranberry sauce
1 TJ cranberry roll
~2tsp butter

4 pm
1 slice pecan pie (2 1/2 inches across)

6 pm
a few bites of this and that as I packed up leftovers at my mom’s

8 pm
leftover homemade thai food (2/3 c) + ~1/2 c brown jasmine rice
1 slice pecan pie (1 1/2 inches across)
piece of pie crust (3″ x 3″)
2 c chamomile tea

I’m back, kinda… November 23, 2009

Wish I were out at boot camp with all of you, but instead I’m here. The good news is I feel like I’m getting better (3 antibiotics later…). I still have sinus pressure & headaches but it’s much better than before. 10 more days til my appt. w/the ENT.

I believe I am now about 10 pounds down from my last weigh in w/ Stacy (last week of Sept.). Being sick is good for something, I suppose. This means I have now lost 50 pounds since August 2008, and have now gone below my lowest known weight as an adult.

So, I’m going to try to journal food again to try to get back in the swing of things — though I’m still waiting to hear from Stacy to see if I”m eligible for the challenge if I don’t do the exercise portion of it too.

Today, 11/23

10 am
1 piece whole wheat toast w/ whipped butter
1/2 granny smith apple
2/3 c OJ
2 cups coffee

1 pm
1/2 togo’s sandwich (honey whole wheat roll, turkey, light mayo, lettuce, pickle, onion)
4 sticks of cucumber
5 Fritos
4 sips Dr. Pepper (very watery)
2 bites peanut butter -n- chocolate ice cream

other 1/2 togo’s sandwich above

5:45 pm

~5 oz chicken picatta

The last 24 hours gives me hope…that I could be finally beating this sinus thing. I’m only journaling veggies today — it’s all I can manage when I feel like crap half the time.

(I’m counting it as 1/2 a serving — the sauce & veggies)

OMG — that’s it, 5 servings again. I feel like I’ve accomplished something while being sick (other than giving Mercy urgent care, Target pharmacy and Advil job security)

 

 

Today and yesterday… November 9, 2009

After a decent day Saturday I ended up feeling horrible Sunday and went to urgent care, again. The sinus infection and bronchitis aren’t clearing up so I got some new meds and am hopeful (again) after feeling some improvement today.

I gave up trying to journal yesterday, but after thinking about it, I did reach 5 veggie servings, so here’s that:

Sun. Nov. 8
afternoon snack: 1 c edamame & peas
dinner: salad w/ 1 cup shredded carrots; 1 small carrot (1/2 serving); 1/2 c corn (1/2 serving)
Total veggie servings = 5

Mon. Nov. 9

2 leftover wheat pancakes

leftover whole wheat spaghetti w/ meat sauce (1/2 veggie serving)

snack
1 c cucumber

1/2 c corn

guess I missed it today — only 3 1/2 servings. this will be my one day off.

I hate the antibiotic I’m on — doxycycline. You’re supposed to take it 1 hour before or 2 hours after food; not within 2-3 hours of medicine that include magnesium, calcium, etc. Do not take w/ milk or dairy. Don’t lay down within 30 min of taking it. It’ so hard to figure out when to take it since I take vitamins in the morning, milk in my coffee, and aparently the sudafed I take has magnesium in it. And I eat every 2-3 hours, so now I have to plan exactly when to eat. Ugh. At least I think it’s finally working!

over 1 c sauce (made w/ lean ground beef, large can crushed tomatoes, spices, red bell pepper, spinach, onion, garlic)    (estimate 1/2 c veggies)

5 servings veggies today!

Today I am thankful for furlough Friday, even though my hubby is crabby and may be getting sick himself. I have 3 days of no plans, no responsibilities, and hopefully my boys will just let me rest. Next week is really busy with some fun things planned and I NEED to get better.

I’ve been trying to get rid of all the processed crap in my pantry, but not fast enough. Dave found this Jell-o no-bake peanut butter dessert thing, and decided to make it the other night. He actually used my electric mixer (with my coaching).

One of the things Josh wanted to do on his break from school is go to Mimi’s for breakfast…so I finally decided to take him. I took a shower, put real clothes on in an attempt to feel normal…felt 10x worse when we got home. Also, I tried to order things off the “healthy” parts of the menu…but nothing sounded good. I needed my good  old-fashioned eggs, bacon and pancakes — I just didn’t eat the whole plate! It was a huge, caloric breakfast, but I was hardly hungry all day. I kept snacking on veggies.

3 strips bacon
about 1 1/2 pancakes w/ butter
1/4 c blueberries & strawberries

nonfat white mocha, no whip

3 oz chicken (white & dark)
leftover roasted brussel sprouts, carrots, onion, sweet potatoes, peppers (about 3/4 c)

1/2 red bell pepper (I’d guess 3/4 cup)

This is my husband’s attempt at dinner because I felt like crap. He actually got mad at me for not having things around that house “that he could easily and quickly make for dinner” (i.e. processed food).
