Am I NUTS?????

Posted by: Fat Pants In: General

Am I totally crazy for wanting to do this? Someone on the 3FC forums mentioned signing up for the Komen 3-day. 3-day? What’s that? I’d only ever heard of the Race for the Cure 5k. So I checked it out.

It’s a 3-day walk totalling 60 miles - average of 20 miles a day. You camp out in a two person tent, meals and showers are provided at the camp locations. There is one based in Denver that is in August of 2009.

I TOTALLY want to do this! After participating in the 5k a few weeks ago, for the first time I experienced what it was like to have a goal to train for and reach it. It was a huge personal growth experience, and it was for a good cause. The whole experience with the Race for the Cure left me wanting to get more involved in foundations like the Komen foundation.

The 3-day seems HUGE. but I want to do it! Am I nuts for wanting to do this? It would require a lot of training, a lot of hard work. I would have to raise at least $2300 in donations to be able to participate, but August 2009 is almost a year away so I think it would be doable. But I just see an opportunity for me to work towards something, an opportunity for spiritual and personal growth, an opportunity to do something for a good cause, an opportunity to raise money for breast cancer research so hopefully some day we can find a cure!

I could do this. It would be tough, but I could do it. I would need really good shoes. I would have to train intensely. But I could do it. I know I have it in me. I am DONE with school in December for good (yay for graduating!) so I will have bajillions of free time. Of course I won’t be able to train outside until like middle of March, but that would leave me 5 solid months of training outside, meanwhile I could train in the gym.

I really could do this. I’d be nuts, but I could do it.
