I CAN fit in my pants!

All in a day’s work

Posted by: Fat Pants In: General

My biggest struggle for controlling my eating lies in between 3:00 and 5:00 - essentially when I get home from work and when I begin cooking dinner. I head straight to the kitchen, it seems, and snack and snack until dinner time. And then I’m not hungry anymore.

Today was no exception, but I do feel like I’m making some progress. I did promise myself I could have a snack of 1% cottage cheese and fat free saltines, and it was worth it. I didn’t really snack again until I made lunches for tomorrow, and had a few bites of egg salad left over. Only a few bites, but still.

I tried this new Tyson chicken dinner and it turned out to be yucky. I’ve really liked their chicken fajita kits so I decided to pick up their new chicken fried rice kit. For 2 1/2 cups, it’s 400 calories and 6g of fat. I don’t think I even ate half a cup - yuck! So dinner ended up being a Kashi trail mix bar. All in all, I came in around 1200 cals for the day - and I’m full!

And - GO ME - I went to the gym! 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes on the stationary bike earned me 377 calories burned, according to my Heart Rate Monitor. Best birthday gift I’ve received!

I’m trying not to eat after 7 p.m. but it’s going to be hard. One of my favorite things to do is grab a bowl of popcorn and snuggle up with DH and watch our favorite shows. I hope I can make it tonight!

I’ve been trying to think of ways to occupy my time between end of work and dinner, and after dinner to occupy my mind (and mouth!) so that I don’t head for the kitchen. I’ve been thinking about giving quilting a shot - but it looks difficult! How do you get started with quilting? Any tips for a beginner?
