Acid Alkaline Diet Simplified: 7 Dinner Ideas

The acid alkaline diet promotes a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, which have an alkalizing effect on the body to help balance the pH levels in the blood. Too much acid in the blood weakens the immune system, thus making you more prone to diseases.

Following the acid alkaline diet does not have to be difficult, as you simply add in more fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds; and eliminate acidic foods, such as red meat, dairy, sugar and fermented and processed foods. The general rule is to eat 75 percent alkalizing foods, and only 25 percent acid foods. This still allows you to enjoy your regular foods, but in smaller portions. Here are some healthy dinner ideas for the acid alkaline diet.

Spaghetti

Make spaghetti with buckwheat pasta and serve with homemade tomato sauce and a Caesar salad with a light dressing and whole grain croutons. Eliminate the chicken strips and bacon from the salad, as they are acidic.

Steamed Vegetables

Steamed vegetables, such as broccoli, carrots, celery, peppers and zucchini, can be served with fish, poultry or mashed potatoes.

Vegetable Casseroles

Steam fry some peppers and onions and combine in a casserole dish with your favorite vegetables, herbs and spices. To keep the vegetables from drying out you can add vegetable broth or fruit juices for extra flavor. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about an hour, or until done.

Stuffed Vegetables

Peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants and potatoes are all vegetables, which can be stuffed with your favorite filling. Brown rice combined with ground chicken or fish, along with garlic, celery and your favorite spices and herbs will always be a hit with the whole family.

Corn on the Cob

Fresh corn can be grilled or cooked, and either way it tastes great. Instead of adding butter, brush on some cold pressed olive oil or avocado oil and lightly salt with sea salt. Corn is always good by itself, or you can enjoy it with just about any other meal.

Steamed Asparagus

Lightly steam asparagus with green onions for about 5 minutes. Toss with lemon juice, olive oil, finely chopped tarragon and sea salt to taste. Serve with baked potatoes, poultry or fish.

Broccoli Soup

Creamy broccoli soup cooked with soy milk, celery, carrots, green peppers, onions, a clove of garlic and sea salt to taste is great, especially on cold winter days. Serve with freshly baked whole grain bread dipped in avocado oil or with garlic toast.

Once your pH levels are in balance you will begin to lose weight if you are overweight, and if you are underweight you will be able to gain healthy weight. Your digestive and immune systems will improve, so that you will have more energy, plus, you will be able fight off most common ailments as well as serious diseases. Therefore, the acid alkaline diet is not just a fad diet that you only follow for a certain amount of time. It is means to be a permanent part of your life.
