The Atkins Diet is probably the most controversial diet plans ever written. Fans of the diet have lost weight successfully and will defend the plan with all of their ability. Opponents of the diet feel just as strongly and believe the diet may hold long term health implications.
There are 4 stages in the Atkins program: Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance, and Maintenance. If you are a follower of the Atkins plan, you will probably stay on the diet for the rest of your life, to maintain the weight you lose. Make sure the food plan is something you think you can follow forever, because it can be tough. See your physician regularly to make sure you maintain good health.
