5 Breakfast Ideas for the Raw Food Diet

On the raw food diet, you can basically have anything for breakfast as long as it is raw. Even though you do not have to eat raw 100 percent of the time, you should at least start your day with raw food. By doing so you will find that your energy levels are much higher throughout the day. Here are 5 breakfast ideas to help you get started:

Banana Nut Smoothie

Bananas are naturally sweet, which makes them perfect for breakfast. To make the smoothie grind a handful of nuts and 1 tbsp. of flax seeds in a blender. Then add the banana and water and blend again. Instead of adding just plain water you could add homemade almond or rice milk.

To make the milk, soak 1 cup of nuts or rice in clean water overnight. In the morning rinse the nuts or rice, and blend together with 3 cups of fresh water. Then using a sprouting bag or cheese cloth, strain the milk into another container. You can sweeten and flavor the milk with agave nectar, honey or vanilla.

Oatmeal

Yes you can still have your oatmeal! Simply soak some flax seeds overnight, then rinse and blend together with an apple, a pear, a banana and freshly made almond milk.

Green Smoothie

Dark leafy green vegetables may not be very tasty in the morning, especially if you are new to the raw food diet. But they are very nutritious and will keep you energized throughout the day. There really are no rules to making green smoothies, as you just pick some green vegetables like kale, broccoli, celery and beet greens and blend together with some water. To help you get accustomed to green smoothies you can add fresh fruits as natural sweeteners.

Fruit Salad

Fresh fruits for breakfast are a good way to wake you up. You can make a salad or eat the fruits by themselves. Apples, watermelon, pineapple, mangoes and grapes work well on an empty stomach.

Fruits and Vegetable Juices

Freshly squeezed fruit juices will always be welcomed first thing in the morning. Vegetable juices do not go down as easy as fruit juices, but because they are loaded with so many healthy vitamins and minerals they will help your body to thrive all day! 

Carrots are good when juiced by themselves. 

For a vegetable juice that will please just about everyone, juice about 5 tomatoes, 2 or 3 celery stalks, 1 carrot, 1/4 green pepper, a handful of cilantro, 1 clove garlic and a slice of onion. Once juiced, add a pinch of sea salt to help bring out the flavor. 

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but it is interesting to note that not eating breakfast until mid-morning can actually help you to be more alert and more energized throughout the day. The reason behind this is that your body goes into a state of fasting overnight, and the longer you fast each day, the more toxins will be removed, and as a result you feel better.
