3 Apple a Day Diet: 12 Great Snacks

The 3 Apple a Day Diet advises dieters to consume three apples a day in addition to three well-balanced meals. Apples are to be consumed 15 minutes prior to each meal. By the fiber and additional nutrients of the apple, you should feel full sooner, which should help you avoid overeating at the next meal. While on the 3 Apple a Day diet, you can eat two snacks a day. Below are several snacks to enjoy while on this diet.

1. Cottage Cheese and Yogurt

  • ½ cup fat free cottage cheese
  • ½ cup fat free yogurt, any flavor

This snack is rich in protein, which should help you feel full until your next meal. Additionally, several medical studies have suggested that a diet high in calcium can help dieters lose weight faster.

2. Celery and Peanut Butter

  • 2 large celery stalks
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

Spread the peanut butter on the celery and enjoy.

3. Carrots and String Cheese

  • 10 baby carrots
  • 1 piece of reduced fat string cheese

4. Cottage Cheese and Vegetables

  • ½ cup fat free cottage cheese
  • 1 cup raw vegetables, such as carrots, cherry tomatoes or celery

The exciting thing about this snack is that you get to mix and match the variety of vegetables that you dip into the cottage cheese.

5. String Cheese and Vegetables

  • 1 piece of reduced fat string cheese

6. Hummus and Vegetables

  • 3 tbsp hummus
  • 1 cup raw vegetables, such as carrots, cherry tomatoes or celery

7. Yogurt and Fruit

  • ½ cup fat free yogurt, any flavor
  • 1 cup berries, such as raspberries, blueberries and blackberries

8. Chocolate Milk and Berries

  • 1 cup skim or fat free milk
  • 1 tbsp fat free chocolate syrup
  • ½ cup strawberries or blueberries

9. Instant Oatmeal with Fruit

  • 1 packet of instant oatmeal (150 to 165 calories)
  • ½ cup berries

10. Nuts and Cheese

  • 2 tbsp or 3 oz of nuts, such as roasted almonds
  • 1 oz hard cheese

11. Edamame

  • ½ cup shelled or 1 1/8 cup unshelled edamame
  • 1 tsp sea salt

The 3 Apple a Day diet recommends eating lean proteins and an abundance of raw fruits and vegetables. As you can tell, the snacks on the eating plan are heavy in protein and fruits or vegetables. The diet plan has dieters eating nine servings a day of fruit and vegetables. Therefore, in addition to the three apples, you will still need to consume six servings of fruit and vegetables a day. Most of the above snacks offer at least one more serving of fruit or vegetables to your daily diet. The diet allows for two snacks a day. These snacks are the only meals of the day where you are not expected to eat an apple.
